Are you are interested in learning a brass instrument or drum kit and percussion?
Are you currently learning and are bored with just playing the pieces for your Grade Examinations?
Have you had a gap from playing and would like to get back into banding?
RAF St Athan has 3 levels of Training Band, free tutition and instruments available, so why not join one of our ensembles, play some different music and make new friends whilst learning new skills?
The training band affords experience in ensemble playing, group tuition and music theory - all in the hope that members will progress into the Voluntary Band. This group splits into three ensembles - Beginners, the Junior Band and the Youth Band. Each group can also provide valuable teaching and conducting experience to those musicians who wish to develop their skills further.
Instruments are available and tuition is free. We also welcome parents or adults who woud like to learn or are looking to return to paying after a gap. We have had a number of parents join the training band with their children to give them support and then both parent and child have progressed to the Voluntary Band!
Rehearsal Times
The training bands meet on Tuesdays and have their own dedicated rehearsal space and tuition rooms.
